Man sentenced to take part in court treatment programme
A man who crashed his motorbike in Hamilton Parish has been ordered to participate in a drink-driver’s court treatment programme.
Gladwyn Bean, 60, from Sandys, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court.
The court heard that last August, Bean lost control and fell off his bike while turning on North Shore Road, causing his cycle to land on top of him.
An off-duty police officer saw and assisted Bean a short time later.
The officer noticed that Bean was intoxicated and took him to Hamilton Police Station.
Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson disqualified Bean from driving all vehicles until further notice and ordered that he participate in DUI Court beginning on Tuesday.
She also ordered that a drug and alcohol assessment be conducted for Bean, and released him on $1,500 bail.
