Bike rider failed two breath tests, court told

A motorbike rider who was pulled over by police carrying out roadside sobriety checks twice failed breathalyser tests.

Jeremy Taylor, 26, from Sandys, pleaded guilty yesterday to drink-driving when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard that on February 26, officers stopped Taylor, who was riding his bike on King Street, in Hamilton, while doing roadside sobriety checks.

While speaking with him, police saw that his eyes were bloodshot and smelt alcohol on his breath.

Taylor failed breathalyser tests both at the scene and at Hamilton Police Station.

The test results showed that he had between 107 and 127 milligrams of alcohol within 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit for driving in Bermuda is 80mg/100ml.

Taylor was disqualified from driving all vehicles for 18 months and fined $1,500.
