Man stole $61 worth of merchandise from gas station
A 19-year-old man who admitted stealing 16 items from a Hamilton service station was caught on camera, a court heard.
Staff at the Esso City service station on Richmond Road noticed several things were stolen from the shelves last May, Senior Magistrate Maxanne Anderson was told on Friday.
Ammar Shakir, 19, from Paget, had placed the merchandise, valued at $61, into a bag and left the store without paying.
Management called the police, who identified Shakir through video footage and arrested him in connection with the incident in October.
Ms Anderson ordered a social inquiry report and drug assessment for Shakir and adjourned the case to June 9 for sentencing.
