Possession of crack pipe lands man in jail for 40 days
Police caught a man with a custom-made crack pipe after stopping him for an unrelated matter, a court was told yesterday.
Daquan Burgess, 25, admitted to having the pipe, made from a bottle, when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court.
The court heard that officers stopped Burgess, of no fixed abode, in connection with an unrelated matter in November last year.
When asked by police, Burgess admitted having the object in his pocket.
Officers seized the item, which contained trace amounts of cocaine, and took Burgess to Hamilton Police Station.
Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson sentenced Burgess to 40 days behind bars for the offence.
