Man charged with bringing cannabis resin into island
A man has been charged with importing cannabis resin with a value of up to $56,000 into Bermuda.
Tahva Virgil, 28, appeared in court and denied bringing in the drug, as well as another substance containing THC, into the island in February last year.
Mr Virgil, from Southampton, also denied having both substances with the intent to supply in St George’s and chose to have his case tried in Magistrates’ Court.
Prosecutor Taneka King said the cannabis resin had an estimated value of between $42,000 and $56,000.
Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson adjourned the case to June 2 and released Mr Virgil on $25,000 bail.
She also requested that a psychological and psychiatric report be written for Mr Virgil and ordered that he attend the Hamilton Police Station three days a week.
