Crashes land two men with road bans
Two men involved in separate crashes were banned from driving all vehicles and ordered to take part in a drink-drivers’ court treatment programme.
Mihkai Trott-Davis and Priyesh Patel, both 28, admitted to driving while impaired by alcohol when they appeared in Magistrates’ Court.
The court heard that Trott-Davis, from Warwick, fell off his bike and lost consciousness after colliding with a car on Crow Lane last August.
When talking to him at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, police noticed that Trott-Davis’s speech was slurred and smelt alcohol on his breath.
In a separate case, the court was told that police found Patel, also from Warwick, sitting next to his damaged bike in Hamilton last month.
Patel admitted to riding the vehicle, but said he could not recall how the crash happened and was taken to the Hamilton Police Station.
Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson disqualified both men from driving all vehicles until further notice and ordered them to take part in DUI Court beginning on May 23.
They were each released on $1,500 bail.
