Senior fined $1,500 and banned from roads for drink-driving
A senior who drove his car over the centre line and hit another vehicle has been disqualified from driving for 18 months.
Roger Francis, 78, from Pembroke, appeared in Magistrates’ Court today and pleaded guilty to driving while under the influence of alcohol.
The court heard that police attended the collision on April 3 and spoke with Francis, who caused the accident when he drove his car across the centre line on Palmetto Road.
Officers noticed that Francis’s speech was slurred and that his eyes were red, and took him to Hamilton Police Station.
In addition to the ban, Francis was fined $1,500.
