Fine and roads ban for man caught drink-driving

A motorist who collided with a car in Paget has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for 18 months.

Justin Dean, 31, from Warwick, admitted to driving under the influence of alcohol when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard that Dean struck the back of the car near the junction of Middle Road and Valley Road on May 17, and fell off his bike as a result.

Dean fell down again while walking towards his bike after the collision and had to be helped up by police at the scene.

He denied drinking alcohol before driving and told officers he “had been working”, and was taken to the Hamilton Police Station.

In addition to being banned, Dean was fined $1,500.
