Man who punched and kicked police ordered take part in DUI Court

A man who punched and kicked three police officers while being arrested has been ordered to take part in a court treatment programme.

Kacy Greene, 24, from St George’s, admitted to assaulting the officers, as well as violently resisting arrest, when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that officers stopped Greene after he overtook them while riding his bike along Mullet Bay Road on July 22.

Greene punched one in the torso while being questioned, causing the officer to lose his balance.

He punched and kicked two other officers during the incident and tried to escape while being handcuffed.

Greene was taken to Hamilton Police Station but refused to provide officers with a sample of his breath.

He admitted not taking the test and driving while disqualified when he appeared in court on Monday.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson ordered that Greene take part in DUI Court beginning on August 1 and released him on $5,000 bail, with a surety, until that time.

She also ordered that a social inquiry and drug use report be written for Greene and disqualified him from driving all vehicles until further notice.
