Man fined $1,500 and banned from roads for drink-driving

A motorist who rode his motorbike repeatedly over the centre line on the roads in Paget has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for 18 months.

Patraic Castle, 34, from Warwick, pleaded guilty to driving while impaired by alcohol, when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that police stopped Castle on July 11 after seeing him swerve left and right while riding his bike along Harbour Road.

While speaking to him, officers smelt alcohol on his breath and saw that his eyes were red and he was unsteady on his feet.

Castle was then taken to Hamilton Police Station.

In addition to being banned from the roads, Castle was fined $1,500.
