Motorist banned from roads after failing breath test

A motorist who struck a car in Paget has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for 18 months.

Harold Burrows, 36, admitted drink-driving when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that Burrows, from Pembroke, hit the side of the car after swerving on to the western lane of Ord Road on September 29.

Medical personnel treated Burrows for abrasions before police arrived at the scene.

Officers noticed that Burrows was unsteady on his feet and they smelt alcohol on his breath.

He was taken to Hamilton Police Station, where a breath test showed 165 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his blood. The legal limit for driving in Bermuda is 80mg/110ml.

In addition to the ban, Burrows was fined $1,500.
