Man pleads guilty to assaulting former fiancée
A man who tried to strangle his former fiancée has been ordered to participate in a drug treatment programme.
Abednego Trott, from Devonshire, admitted assaulting and threatening to kill Amanda Durrant when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Trott, 47, also pleaded guilty to entering her Cedar Park Road residence and damaging several items inside, as well as her car.
The court heard that Ms Durrant called the police after spotting Trott outside the property on November 3.

He then told Ms Durrant he “has a knife and will kill” her before putting his hands around her neck.
Police stopped the altercation and arrested Trott shortly after arriving at the scene.
Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson ordered social inquiry and drug use reports be written for Trott and ordered he participate in drug treatment court beginning on November 14. Trott was remanded into custody until that time.
