Woman who obstructed police given conditional discharge

A woman who obstructed two police officers during a traffic stop has been given a yearlong conditional discharge.

Taejha Tucker, 21, admitted obstructing the officers, as well as resisting arrest, when she appeared in Magistrates’ Court today.

The court heard that police stopped Tucker, from Sandys, on Belmer Drive, Devonshire, on March 27 to ask about her car’s registration.

Officers told Tucker, who had outstanding warrants for other traffic matters, to step out of the car and let go of her phone, but she ignored all instructions.

Officers eventually handcuffed Tucker and took her to Hamilton Police Station.

Magistrate Tyrone Chin warned Tucker to stay out of trouble throughout her conditional discharge, or risk having the sentence changed to a harsher one.
