Murder trial delayed yet again

Accused: the trial of Kamal Worrell has been delayed again (File photograph)

The murder trial of Kamal Worrell was adjourned again this morning after a juror called in sick.

Puisne Judge Juan Wolffe released the remaining jury members, saying: “It’s nobody’s fault. People get sick, people get ill, and I am not going to make them come in.”

Mr Worrell has denied allegations of murdering Chavelle Dillon-Burgess on an unknown date between April 10 and June 11, 2020.

He has also denied a charge of wounding Ms Dillon-Burgess and a charge of common assault related to an incident on June 1, 2019 and six counts of common assault related to an incident on November 14, 2018.

The trial may resume tomorrow if the sick juror is well enough to attend.
