Thief ordered to participate in Drug Treatment Court
A woman who stole alcohol and snacks from a Warwick petrol station has been ordered to participate in a drug treatment court programme.
Honnee Smith, 27, from Hamilton Parish, admitted stealing the items, valued at $350, when she appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The court heard that on December 27, 2022, a cashier at the Rubis South Shore station saw Smith and two other people standing in the corner of the store and watched them place a bottle of Hennessy inside a backpack and leave the premises.
Video footage showed that Smith and the other defendants had stolen three bottles of Hennessy, five bottles of 9 Parishes Swizzle and two bags of potato chips from the store.
Magistrate Maria Sofianos ordered social inquiry, drug-use and mental health reports for Smith, and that she participate in Drug Treatment Court on November 28.
Ms Sofianos bailed Smith until that time.
