Motorist banned for five years
A motorist who was caught drink-driving on three separate occasions has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for five years.
Debre Trott, 31, admitted the offences, all which occurred between July 2022 and March 2023, when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court in September.
The court heard that Trott, from Pembroke, first collided with a car on Cedar Avenue and was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained from the incident.
The court was then told that officers conducting sobriety checks stopped Trott along King Street on February 25, and stopped him again on Court Street less than one month later.
Trott was first ordered to participate in DUI Court, but was considered unsuitable for the programme and reappeared in court for sentencing.
He apologised for his actions and told senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson he would be “willing to get help outside the courts”.
In addition to being banned, Trott was fined $9,000 — $1,500 for the first offence, $2,500 for the second and $5,000 for the third.
