Police chased a motorist who ignored traffic lights throughout Hamilton last month, Magistrates’ Court heard yesterday.

Appearing in court, Arun Kuman, 36, admitted riding his bike dangerously.

The court was told that police followed Kuman after seeing him swerve when turning from Church Street on to Court Street on November 1.

Kuman, from Devonshire, rode away from the officers and ignored several traffic lights before losing control of his bike on Dutton Avenue.

He told the court that he did not notice police following him at first and tried to stop as soon as he realised.

Kuman was disqualified from riding motorcycles for 18 months and fined $1,000.
