Police stop drink-driver on Christmas Eve
A man was caught drink-driving in Hamilton minutes before Christmas Day, Magistrates’ Court heard yesterday.
Vivian Hunter, 54, pleaded guilty to the offence when he appeared in court.
The court was told that officers stopped Hunter, from Devonshire, after watching him speed and ignore a red traffic light along Cavendish Road and Reid Street at about 11.50pm on December 24.
Officers smelt alcohol on Hunter’s breath and saw that he was unsteady on his feet. They took him to the Hamilton Police Station,
A breath test showed Hunter had 140 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit for driving in Bermuda is 80mg/100ml.
Hunter was disqualified from driving all vehicles for 18 months and fined $1,500 for the offence.
