Three men banned from roads for impaired driving
Police arrested three men for impaired driving in Hamilton within 24 hours, Magistrates’ Court has heard.
Julio Lopez Naranjo, 37, David Barnett, 38, and Michael Banquilar, 35, all admitted riding bikes while impaired by alcohol when they appeared in court last week.
The court heard that police stopped Naranjo, from Pembroke, after he rode through red traffic lights on Parliament Street on December 17, and he almost fell off his bike when pulling over for officers.
Police then saw Banquilar, from Southampton, swerving left and right along Front Street on December 18.
When stopped, Banquilar admitted having “a few beers” before getting on his bike.
Barnett, from Smith’s, repeatedly crossed the centre line while riding in front of police on Church Street, also on December 18.
All three men were fined $1,500 and disqualified from driving all vehicles for 18 months.
