Two plead not guilty and one admits charges at arraignments
A man who admitted his role in a daytime robbery will be sentenced in March, the Supreme Court heard.
Grayson Swan, 23, pleaded guilty yesterday to the robbery, which took place outside of The Hub on Middle Road, Warwick, on May 8, 2020.
He also pleaded not guilty to the use of a firearm during the robbery, and the Crown chose to offer no evidence on the charge.
The robbery resulted in two gold chains, priced at approximately $8,000, being stolen.
Swan was charged with Jukai Burgess, who pleaded guilty to the offence last March.
Puisne Judge Shade Subair-Williams adjourned the case until March 1 and remanded Swan in custody.
During the same Supreme Court arraignments session, Canadian national Alexta Dill pleaded not guilty to two counts of drug importation, specifically cocaine and cannabis.
The offences were alleged to have happened on March 4 last year.
The cannabis said to have been found has an estimated street value of almost $474,000, while the cocaine has a reported street value of about $201,300.
Mrs Justice Subair-Williams adjourned the case until April 1 to confirm a trial date, which is expected to happen on May 13, and extended Mr Dill’s bail.
Jomari Gooden, 24, denied several weapons charges as well as an assault on a police officer and resisting arrest.
Mr Gooden pleaded not guilty to having a Glock 17 handgun without a license, several rounds of ammunition without a licence and a pocket knife in a public place.
He also pleaded not guilty to assaulting an officer during the execution of his duty and violently resisting arrest.
The offences were alleged to have happened on September 23 last year in Sandys.
Mrs Justice Subair-Williams adjourned the case until April 1 and remanded Mr Gooden in custody.
