Taxi driver fined and banned from roads

A man who was found with an open beer in a taxi has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for 18 months.

Tyrone Flood, 37, pleaded guilty to driving the taxi while impaired by alcohol when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that police pulled over Flood, from Paget, on April 20 after watching him driving over the centre line along South Road, Paget.

Flood admitted having “a few beers” before driving, and officers found a half-empty can of Carlsberg beer in the taxi.

In addition to being banned, Flood was fined $1,500 for the offence.
