Ban for man found asleep in car
A man found asleep in his car has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for 18 months.
Brian Batson, 32, admitted having care and control of a car while over the legal alcohol limit, when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court.
The court heard that police saw Batson, from Pembroke, asleep in his car on November 20.
The car, which was parked near the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute, was running and had its headlights on while Batson was sleeping.
Officers smelt alcohol on his breath after waking him up and took him to Hamilton Police Station.
A breath test showed Batson had between 141 and 153 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit for operating a vehicle in Bermuda is 80mg/100ml.
In addition to the ban, Batson was fined $1,500.
