Man found with knife in East End
Police found a knife in a motorist’s pocket when they stopped him for driving dangerously in the East End.
Elijah Smith, 19, admitted having the weapon, which had a 4.4in blade, when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court heard yesterday.
Smith, from Warwick, also pleaded guilty to riding dangerously and failing to stop for officers. All the offences occurred on October 31, 2022.
The court heard that Smith rode away from police on Kindley Field Road but was stopped after he entered the wrong side of a roundabout.
Officers found the knife in one of Smith’s pockets while searching him.
Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson ordered social inquiry and drug use reports be written for Smith and adjourned the case to April 10 for sentencing.
Smith was released on $4,000 bail and ordered to follow a daily 8pm-to-7am curfew.
