Overseas pair charged with importing $300,000 of cocaine

Two foreign dual nationals were charged last week with importing more than $300,000 worth of cocaine to Bermuda.

Rayveils Evangelista-Bautista and Carlos Muñoz, who are both nationals of Spain and the Dominican Republic, were not required to enter a plea when they appeared in Magistrates’ Court as the charges, which include possession of the drug with intent to supply, are indictable.

Magistrate Maria Sofianos released the pair on bail of $25,000 each and ordered them to surrender their travel documents.

She ordered that the two accused, who appeared in court on Thursday, were fitted with electronic monitoring devices and they must report to Hamilton Police Station three days a week.

The case is expected to call again at an arraignment session on July 1.
