Motorist fined for impaired driving

A drink-driver stopped by police after he was swerving along Front Street in Hamilton has been fined $1,500.

Kevin Zeininger Jr, 45, admitted driving while impaired by alcohol when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that police stopped Zeininger after watching him swerve left and right along Front Street on Saturday.

Zeininger, who was visiting the island from overseas, told officers he was “swerving on purpose”, but admitted drinking alcohol before getting behind the wheel.

He and was taken to the Hamilton Police Station.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson ordered Zeininger to pay the fine in full before the end of the day.
