Detective shows jury footage of suspicious riders
A detective tasked with gathering CCTV footage in a firearms investigation concluded his evidence-in-chief yesterday.
Mark Raposo, who started his evidence on June 13, showed a Supreme Court jury the rest of the footage he collected.
The footage detailed the routes of motorcyclists he suspected were linked to a shooting that left two people dead and two injured.
Syhon Akinstall, 22, has denied the murders of Ayinde Eve and Micah Davis, as well as the attempted murders of Troy Eve Burgess and Derrick Golding, a police sergeant.
He has also denied four counts of the use of a firearm to commit an indictable offence, namely the murders and alleged attempted murders.
The offences were said to have happened on October 26, 2021, at the Robin Hood Pub and Restaurant in Pembroke.
Mr Raposo earlier told the court that he was tasked with collecting CCTV footage related to the investigation.
After collecting footage from several public and private buildings around Pembroke, he created a travel route of several persons of interest.
Mr Raposo showed the court footage of a black motorcycle with two people in tow.
This motorcycle and another were seen riding north along Woodlands Road in Pembroke and towards St John’s Road.
The court earlier saw footage of a similar motorcycle riding to the intersection of St John’s Road and Cedar Avenue, where it ran a red traffic light and turned left on to Marsh Folly Road.
Another motorcycle was seen also running a red light and turning right on to Cedar Avenue.
Mr Raposo then showed the court footage of a motorcycle with two passengers riding along Bandroom Lane off North Shore Road and on to The Glebe Road.
Footage outside of the National Sports Centre in Devonshire showed a similar motorcycle ride along Roberts Avenue and turn on to Friswells Road.
Two figures on different motorcycles could then be seen riding out of Friswells Road and on to Roberts Avenue.
Mr Raposo said that the two cycles that were seen on Woodlands Road and St John’s Road were persons of interest.
Charles Richardson, for the defence, questioned whether or not Mr Raposo knew where the two motorcycles seen on St John’s Road had started their routes. He said he did not.
When questioned whether or not he recognised who was riding the motorcycles or their make and model, Mr Raposo said that he did not know this, either.
The detective later said that he knew the motorcycle that turned on to Marsh Folly Road eventually made its way to Roberts Avenue and Friswells Road.
But he added that he could not say if the two motorcyclists later seen leaving Friswells Road were the same people on the black motorcycle.
The trial continues.
