Man admits assaulting woman

A man who punched a woman in her home will be sentenced in Magistrates’ Court next month.

Kevin Simmons, 32, admitted assaulting the woman and causing her bodily harm when he appeared in court today.

The court heard that Simmons, from Pembroke, entered the woman’s property in August last year, asked her for money and punched her in the face multiple times when she refused.

Simmons was taken to the Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute and the woman attended King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after the incident.

Magistrate Craig Attridge ordered that reports be written for Simmons and adjourned the case to August 26 for sentencing.

Simmons was released on $2,500 bail until that time and ordered to not contact the woman.
