Drink-driver banned from roads for 18 months

A man who was stopped by police in Hamilton has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for 18 months.

Paul Cann, 58, admitted drink-driving when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that police stopped Cann, from Sandys, on King Street on June 17 after seeing him wobble while riding his bike.

Officers smelt alcohol on Cann’s breath and took him to Hamilton Police Station, where a breath test showed about 151 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit for driving in Bermuda is 80mg/100ml.

In addition to being banned, Cann was fined $1,500 for the offence.
