Motorist sentenced to DUI Court

A banned motorist who ran away from police after he was stopped and injured himself in a fall has been ordered to attend a drink-driver’s court treatment programme.

Kacy Greene, 25, admitted driving while impaired by alcohol and with a suspended licence when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that police stopped Greene, from St George’s, after watching him drive over the centre line on Front Street in Hamilton on September 30.

Greene, who was already disqualified from driving all vehicles when he was stopped, ran away from officers while they were questioning him.

The pursuit ended after he fell from a 20-foot ledge near Queen Elizabeth Park.

Greene was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment after the incident.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson ordered Greene to take part in DUI Court beginning on July 9 and released him on $5,000 bail with a surety until that time.
