Bike thief to serve more than two years in prison
A man who stole three motorbikes has been sentenced to more than two years behind bars.
Che Pennyman, 53, admitted taking the vehicles when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court at an earlier date.
He also pleaded guilty to stealing two bottles of perfume from Brown and Company. He reappeared in court yesterday for sentencing.
The court heard that Pennyman, from Pembroke, was seen riding a stolen bike last May and stole two more bikes last July.
Staff at Brown and Co called police after Pennyman put the perfume, valued at $330, in his pockets in January.
Pennyman, who has numerous previous convictions, apologised for his actions before being sentenced.
Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson sentenced Pennyman, who is serving an 18-month prison term for stealing a speaker, to an additional 18 months for taking one bike and 24 months for the other two, beginning yesterday.
She ordered that the sentences run concurrently and sentenced him to three months behind bars for stealing the perfume, consecutive to his two-year term.
