Man charged with having weapons and ammunition
A man accused of having weapons and ammunition was remanded into custody this morning.
Wahhaj Shakir, 22, was charged with having a Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol and four rounds of ammunition without a licence, as well as a knife with a blade longer than three inches in public, when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court.
Mr Shakir, from Paget, allegedly had the items on July 18 and 19.
He was not required to enter pleas because the case must be heard in the Supreme Court.
Magistrate Maria Sofianos adjourned the case to the September arraignment session and remanded Mr Shakir in custody until that time.
