Motorist banned for six months
A man who struck a motorcycle rider with his car in Sandys has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for six months.
Richard Shastri, 39, admitted driving without due care and attention when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The court heard that Shastri, from Sandys, collided with a bike as he was turning from Somerset Road on to Morgan Hill last July.
The motorcyclist sustained road rash and lacerations to their hands and toes and both vehicles were damaged in the incident.
Shastri told senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson that overgrowth obstructed his view of the road, which he thought was clear when he turned.
In addition to the ban, Shastri was fined $1,000.
