Woman admits creating and using fraudulent gift card

A woman who admitted buying a gaming console with a fraudulent gift card will be sentenced next month after social reports.

Zaenazja James, 22, pleaded guilty to stealing $700 worth of MarketPlace store credit by creating a gift card without the store’s consent when she appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

She also pleaded guilty to buying a $698 PlayStation 5 with the fraudulent gift card.

The incident happened on December 27 last year.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson ordered a social inquiry report and adjourned the case until September 26 for sentencing.

She released James, from Sandys, on $5,000 bail.
