Driver charged with injuring woman
A motorist is accused of causing a woman grievous bodily harm by driving a car while impaired by alcohol or a drug in Hamilton Parish.
Melina Abanto Saldivar, 44, was also charged with injuring the same woman by drink-driving, failing to stop after the incident, and a driver’s licence-related offence when she appeared in Magistrates’ Court.
Ms Saldivar, from Hamilton Parish, was not required to enter pleas as the case must be heard in the Supreme Court.
The collision, in which Carolina Orellana-Henriquez was injured, allegedly occurred on North Shore Road on October 24.
Magistrate Maria Sofianos sent the case to the October arraignment session, released Ms Saldivar on $10,000 bail with a surety until that time, and ordered her to surrender all travel documents.
