Florida man denies deaths of two Bermudians in pile-up
A man involved in a collision that killed two Bermudians and injured a third has denied fault in a Florida court.
Gavin Dorvil, 19, pleaded not guilty to 11 charges involving a crash at the intersection of NW 6th Street and NW 27th Avenue in unincorporated Central Broward near Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The three-car pile-up, which took place on August 11, resulted in the deaths of Bermudians Lisa Jackson and Geraldine Francis, while another Bermudian, a girl, was left in critical condition.
Entering written pleas on Tuesday, Mr Dorvil denied two counts of vehicular homicide, one count of reckless driving resulting in serious bodily injury, three counts of aggravated fleeing and elusion, and five counts of reckless driving resulting in personal injury or property damage.
Mr Dorvil, of Lauderdale Lakes, was arraigned yesterday in Broward County Court but did not have to enter a verbal plea and was remanded in custody.
He will return on November 19 and is expected to undergo a jury trial at a later date.
