Man charged with sex crimes against a child
A man was remanded in custody yesterday after he was charged with two counts of sex assault on a minor.
The 44-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged in Magistrates’ Court with sexual contact of a girl aged under 14 years and unlawful carnal knowledge of the same girl.
The offences were alleged to have happened between May 1 and June 30, 2021.
The man, from Pembroke, was not required to enter a plea as the matter must be heard in the Supreme Court.
Magistrate Tyrone Chin adjourned the case until the Supreme Court’s arraignment session on October 1 and remanded the defendant in custody.
