Man hit and punched woman last year

A man who punched and dragged a woman across the floor will be sentenced in November.

Clarence Virgil, 56, admitted causing the woman bodily harm by assaulting her when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that Virgil, from Warwick, hit, punched and dragged the woman across the floor last April.

The woman was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital to be treated for hand and facial injuries after the incident.

Magistrate Craig Attridge ordered that a social inquiry report be written for Virgil.

He adjourned the case to November 4 for sentencing and extended his bail until that time.
