Man accused of nightclub attack

A man appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning accused of a nightclub attack that left another man injured.

Ashaun Hassell, 34, was charged with wounding Malik Cann with intent to do grievous bodily harm and possession of a knife in a public place.

The incident was alleged to have happened shortly before 1am on October 13 at Zen Lounge, Somerset Road, Sandys.

Mr Hassell was not required to enter a plea as the matter must be heard in the Supreme Court.

Magistrate Craig Attridge adjourned the case until the Supreme Court’s December arraignments session and released Mr Hassell, from Southampton, on $5,000 bail.

He ordered Mr Hassell to have no contact with the alleged victim and to report to the Hamilton Police Station twice a week.
