Man sent to DUI treatment court

A drink-driver who crashed his bike in Warwick has been ordered to participate in a court treatment programme.

Keith Smith, 44, admitted having care and control of the bike while impaired by alcohol when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that Smith, from Sandys, was injured after losing control of his bike along Burnt House Hill, Warwick, in May.

Police questioned Smith before he was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Magistrate Auralee Cassidy ordered that a drug use report be written for Smith and ordered that he observe DUI Court on November 26.

She released Smith on $1,500 bail until that time and disqualified him from driving all vehicles until further notice.
