Man accused of conspiring to import illicit items
A man was accused today of conspiring to import firearms, ammunition and drugs into Bermuda.
Ezekiel Swan, 25, was charged with the offences when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court.
Mr Swan, from St George’s, allegedly conspired with others to import ammunition and weapons with barrels less than 24 inches long between an unknown date and November 14, 2023.
It was alleged he conspired with others to import drugs between an unknown date and December 2, 2023.
As the case must be heard in the Supreme Court, Mr Swan was not required to enter pleas during today’s hearing.
Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson adjourned the case to the January arraignment session and released Mr Swan on $50,000 bail with a surety until that time.
Ms Anderson also ordered that Mr Swan be fitted with an electronic monitoring device, report to Hamilton Police Station twice a week, follow a daily curfew and surrender all travel documents to the court.
