Man accused of abusing and stealing from senior citizen
A man has been accused of abusing a senior citizen through financial exploitation.
Joseph DeSilva, 56, from Warwick, was also charged with stealing $30,865 from the same senior citizen, Rose Marie DeSilva, when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court today.
Mr DeSilva, who allegedly committed the offences between February and December 2023, requested to have his case heard in the Supreme Court and was not required to enter pleas.
Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson adjourned the case to the January arraignment session and released Mr DeSilva on $25,000 bail until that time.
She ordered Mr DeSilva not to contact the alleged victim or any other Crown witnesses.
