Man admits smuggling cannabis products into Bermuda
An Indian citizen who brought more than $600,000 worth of drugs into Bermuda faces sentencing in the Supreme Court next week.
Chandra Kota, 23, admitted importing cannabis and cannabis resin to the island when he appeared in court on Friday.
Kota, of no fixed abode, attempted to smuggle the controlled drugs, valued at about $623,480, on September 21.
He also pleaded guilty to conspiring with others to import the substances between an unknown date and September 21.
Kota did not answer to allegations that he had the drugs with intent to supply — but those charges remain on file.
Puisne Judge Juan Wolffe adjourned the case to January 7 for sentencing and remanded Kota in custody until that time.
