Man faces series of drug-related charges

A man has been charged with a series of drug-related offences involving cannabis, cannabis resin and THC.

Jay Woolridge, 38, appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning to face the alleged offences.

Mr Woolridge did not enter a plea as the matters must be heard in the Supreme Court and he waived his right to have the charges read aloud in the court.

However, it is understood that he faces 13 counts of possession of drug equipment, four counts of handling drugs and three counts of drug possession.

The alleged drugs were said to have been cannabis, cannabis resin and THC.

It is also understood that Mr Woolridge has been charged with conspiracy to import cannabis, possession of cash alleged to have been the proceeds of crime and refusing to comply with a police investigation.

The non-compliance charge was alleged to have happened on August 5, 2022, while the rest of the charges were alleged to have happened on August 4, 2022.

Magistrate Craig Attridge referred the case to the next Supreme Court arraignments session on May 1 and released Mr Woolridge, from Smiths, on $50,000 bail.
