Woman charged with weapon, drug offences

A woman is facing firearm, ammunition and drug charges.

Desiree O’Connor, 54, was charged with having a Walther PPQ .45 handgun and eight cartridges of ammunition without a licence when she appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Ms O’Connor and 39-year-old Alvone Maybury were also accused of having freebase cocaine with intent to supply.

The offences allegedly occurred in Warwick on September 13, 2024.

As the case must be heard in the Supreme Court, neither of the accused, who both live in Warwick, were required enter pleas.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson adjourned the case to the April arraignment session and remanded the pair into custody until that time.
