Senior gets suspended sentence for Hamilton break-in
A man was given a suspended prison sentence for stealing clothing from the English Sports Shop last year.
Sinclair Fox, 76, admitted stealing more than $1,000 worth of clothing from the store on Front Street when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court in December.
Fox, from St George’s, reappeared in court yesterday for sentencing.
The court heard that Fox broke into the premises and left with a full bag on October 30.
He was found with some of the stolen items near Hamilton Bus Terminal, but $550 worth of merchandise has not been recovered.
Fox has several previous convictions but declined to participate in any court treatment programmes.
Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson sentenced Fox to 12 months behind bars, suspended for two years, for the offence.
