Man admits injuring senior

A man who injured a senior citizen has been ordered to participate in a court treatment programme.

Reuben Curtis, 44, admitted causing Leonie Curtis grievous bodily harm and damaging her car when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Curtis, from Warwick, was also charged with abusing and threatening Ms Curtis, but those charges were dropped yesterday.

The court heard that Curtis punched Ms Curtis’s car window and grabbed and choked her last March.

Ms Curtis sustained a broken clavicle and other injuries during the incident, which occurred in an increased-penalty zone.

Magistrate Maria Sofianos ordered an assessment be written for Curtis and ordered him to participate in Mental Health Treatment Court starting tomorrow and extended his bail until that time.
