Former police officer among four facing drugs charges
A former police officer has been accused of asking people to supply drugs.
Che Young, 38, was charged with soliciting two men to supply heroin or cocaine when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Riley Correia, 29, and Umdae Woolridge, 35, were accused of offering to supply the substances, while 31-year-old Salih Burns faced two charges of supplying.
Mr Young, from Hamilton Parish, faced an additional three charges of causing a computer to “perform a function intending to access data on a computer belonging to the BPS”.
The men denied the offences, which took place between 2023 and 2024, and chose to keep the case in Magistrates’ Court.
A police spokesman said yesterday that Mr Young was no longer employed with the BPS.
Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson adjourned the case until April 28 and released Mr Burns, from St George’s, on $8,000 bail.
She released Mr Correia, from Paget, and Mr Young and Mr Woolridge, from St George’s, on $10,000 bail each with a surety and ordered them to attend Hamilton Police Station every Thursday.
