Teenager banned from roads
A teenager who injured a motorist in Southampton has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for two years.
Jashuntae Moore, 19, admitted causing Jokai Fox grievous bodily harm by driving without due care and attention when she appeared in Magistrates’ Court last year.
Moore, from Sandys, collided with Mr Fox, who was on a bike, on Middle Road on October 13, 2022.
Mr Fox, Moore and her pillion passenger were all injured in the incident.
Moore, who was 17 at the time of the collision, was initially referred to mental health treatment court, but she was considered unsuitable for the programme and was resentenced for the offence yesterday.
In addition to the ban, magistrate Maria Sofianos sentenced Moore, who is pursuing her GED online, to 18 months’ probation.
Probationary conditions include abstaining from drugs and alcohol, attending regular review sessions and not leaving the island without permission.
