Alleged drug traffickers face Supreme Court trial

Two people have been accused of conspiring to import almost $1 million worth of drugs into Bermuda.

Claudisha Charley, 29, and Kevin Rousseau, 49, were charged with conspiring with others to import cannabis and Delta-9 THC when they appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Ms Charley, from St George’s, allegedly imported the drugs on April 3 and Mr Rousseau, from Ontario, Canada, was charged with having them with intent to supply on the same date.

Prosecutor Daniel Kitson-Walters said that the substances were valued at more than $900,000.

Ms Charley and Mr Rousseau were not required to enter pleas yesterday because the case must be heard in the Supreme Court.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson adjourned the case to the May arraignments, remanded the pair into custody and ordered their travel documents be surrendered to the court.
