Sandys man admits gun, drug importation charges
A Sandys man will be sentenced next month after pleading guilty to firearms and drug importation charges.
Taijuan Davis, 29, appeared before Puisne Judge Alan Richards yesterday and admitted importing an FN Herstal Five-Seven pistol and a Ruger EC9 pistol on September 24 last year.
Davis, who was represented by defence attorney Charles Richardson, also pleaded guilty to smuggling 24 rounds of ammunition and an undisclosed quantity of cannabis into the island on the same date.
Davis’s co-accused, Malachai Paynter, pleaded guilty to the same three charges at an earlier hearing.
Both men, who are in custody, will be sentenced on May 2.
A third defendant had earlier pleaded not guilty to conspiracy charges linked to Davis and Paynter’s crimes.
Jonah Smith is charged with conspiring with others unknown to import guns, ammunition and cannabis between a date unknown and September 24 last year.
Mr Smith appeared at the hearing yesterday and was informed by Mr Justice Richards that he would go on trial in November.
Mr Smith was also remanded into custody.
